Spring update life on UK

Welcome to Monstrology

This update includes the Monstrology system and the new Monstrodome Housing item. Also three new Skeleton Key Bosses, the level 118 school pet quests, Aquila fishing, the Jewel Vault, the Frenzy spell, removal of “no trade” from older rare equipment, new Castle Magic items and spells, and a ton of bug fixes.

Now you can capture the “Animus” of monsters through the magic of Monstrology. Wizards level 12 and above should visit Monstrologist Burke across from the Myth School in Ravenwood to take on the quest, “Know Thine Enemy” for an introduction to the new Monstrology system in Wizard101.

You’ll begin with a quick training session to using the Extract Animus spells which apply to damage cards in combat much like other enchantments (In other words, you apply an Extract Animus spell to your cards much like you would the Colossal spell). Use these enchanted cards during combat to extract Animus. Use Animus to then create Summon Monster Treasure Cards, create House Guests for your Castle, or create powerful Expel Monster Treasure Cards for non-boss enemies.

Press “T” in game to open your Monstrology Tome to create and track these new items.

You’ll also now be earning ranks in Monstrology and earning badges for your accomplishments while you play with this new system.

Special Notes

- During PvE combat, non-Myth school wizards can summon one monster through a created treasure card, but Myth players can summon up to three!
- If the monster is one you can only ever fight once through a quest, you won’t be able to collect animus from it.
- If your Monstrology level is equal to the enemy's rank, you should be able to get an animus. If your Monstrology level is below the enemy's rank, it will be harder to collect animus. The difficulty grows as the level/rank difference increases.
- When you fail to collect Animus, you’ll receive a message explaining why it wasn’t collected.
- Be sure to check the Monstroomibus pedestal next to Monstrologist Burke if you need a refresher on the Monstrology tutorial and the new Monstrodome Crown Shop Item.
- Animus Extraction spells are Myth-based spells. You will find them in the Myth section of your spell book after they are added to your library of spells.
- Note that if you are enchanting a Damage Over Time (DoT) spell with an Animus Extraction card, you will only be credited animus for the initial attack against the enemy, even if your DoT spell eventually defeats the enemy.

Monstrodome

Along with the new Monstrology system also comes the Monstrodome!

The Monstrodome is an interact-able item you either purchase through the Crown Shop or craft (See Felicia Worthington in Marleybone to purchase the recipe). You can add your minion summoning treasure cards into the Monstrodome and invite friends to come duel your devious collection of monsters from within your player housing.

You interact with the Monstrodome much like you would other housing items. You click on the Place Object housing button, place your Monstrodome in your house, Click on your Monstrodome, and then click on the Monstrodome icon.

Skeleton Key Bosses

It’s time to face off against three all new Skeleton Key Bosses in Wizard101.
Find Sapoti in the Hall of Doors in Krokotopia (Wooden Skeleton Key Boss).
Find Captain Hockins in Zafaria’s Waterfront (Stone Skeleton Key Boss).
Find Mirage’s Verboten Mimic in Aggrobah near the river area (Gold Skeleton Key Boss).

New Level 118 School Pets!

The Arcanum Scholars now have a new quest available to those who are level 118. They will summon you to talk to them in the Arcanum and will send you on a quest to earn a new school pet.

Aquila Fishing

New fish (and treasure chests) can now be found along the coast of Aquila. Fish up some great rewards and some new friends (like the Spartan Spear) for your fish tanks at home!

Crown Shop

Introducing the Jewel vault! The Jewel Vault works similarly to the seed vault, but for jewels. You place your vault in your player housing, click on it, and open your jewel vault. From here you can transfer your extra jewels into your vault. Note that a crafting recipe for the Jewel Vault is also available from Toshio.

Empyrea - test realm USA

It’s Time to Boldly Explore Empyrea Part One!

While the Wizard managed to rescue Bartleby’s Eye of History from Grandfather Spider and the Cabal in Mirage, the endeavor came at a heavy cost: Mellori was taken by Grandfather Spider. Spider believes she is the key to unlocking his Chaos Heart from its ancient bonds in the storm-shrouded world of Empyrea.

The center of the Spiral, Empyrea, was painstakingly created by Raven to keep the Chaos Heart safe and Spider out. In fact, it was designed to keep pretty much everyone out.

The Chaos Heart sits at the center of Empyrea, secured by three great Paradox Chains, and serves as the anchor point to a world comprised of disparate lands inhabited by diverse beings. Raven enveloped Empyrea in a violent storm the likes of which even she cannot pass or see through. You see, Raven has known from the beginning that Spider reclaiming his Chaos Heart would spell an end to the Spiral she lovingly created.

However, the brilliant minds of the Arcanum have a plan. Well, more specifically, they have a Wizard. Once the proper travel accommodations are secured, the Wizard sets out with a simple list of objectives:

Reach Empyrea
Save Mellori
Save the Spiral

As the old adage says, there’s no rest for the weary Wizard – especially when the fate of the Spiral is at stake.

Players who have completed the quest “Lost and Found” at the end of Mirage, and have reached level 120, can go speak to Fitzhume in the Arcanum to get the quest “Baba Boohooie.”

For Crowns players, Empyrea Part 1 contains 3 separate Premium Zones, priced at 1995c each.

Time to Rise to Level 125

New benefits await those who adventure through Part One of Empyrea! Characters can now increase their total levels to 125.

A Training Point will be awarded at level 125.
Be sure to catch Zeke’s new hunt for Hootie’s Blowfish, and Eloise has a fun quest for you as well! She also has brand new stitching gear, so make sure you say hello when you finally #FindEmpyrea.
Wizards who are level 121+ will now have a maximum gold allowance of 500,000.
Empyrea brings with it opportunities to earn new styles of gear and high level equipment.
Within Empyrea, players who are seeking a greater challenge and excellent rewards will find both within a new side quest encounter called the Beastman Fight Club Gauntlet. Good luck! The struggle herein promises to be our hardest content to date.
Watch out for the several new Wandering Bosses that are wandering your pathways! They have new pets and an attitude – sounds like fun!
New badges like “Beast Basher,” “Dwarf Dasher,” “Lord of the Dance,” and more will be encountered and earned throughout Empyrea. Enjoy!
NO SPOILERS! You’ll have to wait until later in the Test Realm to get the rest of the story—the final fight is closed off for now.

*Please remember, when you were at the previous level maximum of 120, no experience was rewarded for duels and quests completed once you reached level 120. When a player reaches the maximum level, their experience bar disappears, indicating they are not gaining experience from their duels or quests. No experience is rewarded to those who are at the maximum level, which means that everyone who was level 120 before we raised the level cap will be level 120 to start. Now that we have raised the level cap, you can once again start earning new experience points from your adventures.

The Shadow Grows

Empyrea Part One expands on the latest reality-bending school of magic in the Spiral, Shadow Magic.

Velma Von Venkman’s Chambers are now open! She will offer Wizards a new quest, which occurs as a part of the main quest line while you start your journey to #FindEmpyrea. After completing this quest, she will award you with the Shadow Trickster spell and offer another new Shadow Magic spell for you to train: Donate Shadow Pip!

She will also offer to train the following spells if you do not have them in your spell book already:

Shadow Shrike
Shadow Sentinel
Shadow Seraph
Dark Fiend
Dark Nova
Dark Shepherd

Ready to be “Revered” in Crafting?

here’s an all new rank in Crafting beyond Legendary that will have you scouring the ends of the game to be a Revered Crafter. Librarian Fitzhume will direct you to Ignus to start your new quest. The Revered Crafting quests have new kinds of reagents you’ll need to find:

Squid Ink (A reagent found from combat in Empyrea)
Shiny Scales (A reagent only found in fishing chests)
Participation Trophy (A reagent that is purchased with arena tickets in the pet pavilion)
Aether ore and dust (A reagent found as a ground spawn item in the Spiral)
Shocked Key (A reagent only found within silver chests)

If you’re looking to craft new housing items and higher level gear, see Loligo in the Aerial Shores. (Note that you will need your legendary crafting rank to purchase recipes from him.) We realize there is an amazing amount of crafting recipes in Wizard101. To help alleviate finding the recipe you’re looking for, we’ve now made it so you can “equip” a crafting recipe. Equipped recipes are now sorted to the top of your list in your spell book or crafting station for ease of use. You’ll also find the crafting icon appears on all recipes that you can make with the ingredients that you have on hand!

New Member Benefits and Crown Shop Surprises

We’re always looking to find new ways to incentivize and reward those who subscribe to Wizard101. To those ends, we’ve created a few new member benefits. While you won’t be able to experience these just yet, it is important to note we have them safely stored in our arsenal of awesomeness, and they’re all ready and set to “stun.”

As per usual, you’ll find a lot of great Crown Shop items to help you in your journeys when the Test Realm rolls over to the Live Realm. We can’t wait to show you what’s in store, but you’ll need to wait until we’re ready to show you them in the live game.

We’ve also updated all the Pre-paid Bundle Card houses to have preview walkthroughs for when they are featured in the Crown Shop.

Castle Magic and More

Babbage Basset has 36 new castle magic spells based on the spells you already know and love from combat. We’ve also made a couple of improvements to the Castle Magic system:

Targeting has been adjusted and improved for Castle Magic items.
Mounts assigned to Bread Crumb Housing Objects will now perform their fidget animation when “bored” is set on the Bread Crumb.
Fixed a bug where the No Mounts castle magic spell was defeated by teleporting from an area where mounts weren’t allowed.

Did Someone Say MORE SPACE PLZ?!

We heard your requests for MORE SPACE after adding our new Castle Magic effects. Houses now have an additional 100 Castle Magic slots available to them. (NOTE: These bonus slots are only available for castle magic and bread crumb items.) When you click on the Castle Magic Housing Item, your Housing’s Item Count changes to “Bonus Castle Magic” until you place the item.In addition, there is now a “Expand Backpack Elixir” available for purchase in the Crown Shop. Players can now buy up to two of these elixirs to increase their backpack size by fifty slots with each purchase. While we were at it, everyone’s bank space has been increased from 100 to 150!

Daily Assignment Changes

With Empyrea comes a new classification of Daily Quests: Heavyweight. Do you have what it takes to be a new Daily Quest contender? To those ends, Aegon Statz also has a new quest to offer players on the twelfth day of Daily Assignments! Make sure to do your daily quests to continue those important pekron investigations.

Sort Your Deck with Style

We’ve made a few changes to help with both your spell deck organization and setup that we hope you enjoy:

Now when you acquire a new spell deck, you’ll be asked if you’d like to copy your existing deck setup into the new deck to help save you some time. Treasure cards are now found on the left tab of the spell book, and you can now sort treasure cards by school. You can now use Quick Sell for Treasure cards! Monstrology spells have been moved out of the Myth section of the spell book into their own section. Hurray for better organization!

Monstrology Mayhem!

Monstrologist Burke now requires completing her first lesson before she will send you out into the world with other Monstrology spells. The following creatures have been added to the lists of those that can be collected from Monstrology:

Dragonspyre - Nodnarb
Khrysalis - Cree Curdwright
Khrysalis - Deer Mouse Revenant (Balance)
Khrysalis - Deer Mouse Revenant (Ice)
Khrysalis - Wraith Knight
Khrysalis - Laughing Calaca
Khrysalis - Arkyn Moonblade
Khrysalis - King Alric Fatesailor
Mirage - Scrollkeeper
Mirage - Shrowdenger's Qhat

Important Game Play Changes!

There are a few fun changes that you’ll need to know about up front with this update:

The Loremaster has a few new spells for you to obtain, namely, the spells from the Wysteria Lore Pack. If farming isn’t your thing, you can also find recipes of these spells for sale from Grady.
The “Lugs” encounter from the Great Clock Gauntlet is now a bit more difficult. He was using one of his cheats incorrectly. Watch out! Things have changed!
Slightly changed the names of Jewel seeds so they are sorted alphabetically and grouped in your seed vault. If you think they’ve gone missing, look again.
There is a new option to lock your realm. This is important to note because we’ve made a change so you are more likely to be shifted to a more populated realm. If you’d like to not be shifted, lock your realm within the options menu.

Bug Fixes, Quality of Life, and More!

Here’s a list of a few other changes that we hope you enjoy:

Painted Greyhorns no longer appear for Daily Assignment quests.
The original sound for selecting an enemy target has returned!
Selecting a world at a spiral door will now show that world’s map.
Changed the menu chat phrase “would you like to group” to the more grammatically correct, “Would you like to join my group”.
Check the Caravan for a new jewel and Jewel Crafting vendor in Mirage!
More jewels can now be found throughout Mirage.
Team Up has been removed from the Ruined Tower encounter, and we’ve fixed Team Up issues with many other encounters in Dragonspyre.
Fixed a timing issue with the Krokomummy’s natural attack ability.
Minor Grammatical changes.

Summer test realm USA - online!

PvP Daily Rewards

There is a new Daily PvP Tournament kiosk in the PvP staging area where you can check on your Daily Award status. While most days will give you bonus tickets and gold, Days 5, 10 and 15 all have awesome surprises in store. Best of luck at finding both new items and old favorites (like Loremaster spells).

Other PvP Changes

To help stop the practice of boosting rank in PvP, players are no longer allowed to play against the same players they’ve been matched with for a period of time.

In PvP only, we have implemented a Dispel Shield functionality to reduce the ability to spam Dispels. When a Dispel is cast upon a player, they will also receive a Dispel Shield, which can only be broken by a second Dispel. NOTE: If you use a spell that leaves multiple Dispels on a player (like Elemental Diffuse), only one Dispel Shield will be applied.

With these recent changes, we’re also adding a new age of PvP: Welcome to Age 4, which includes new badges for your Wizard to obtain.

We’ve implemented a new turn-based Tournament Mode. In this mode, each side of the dueling circle will take turns choosing their cards instead of both sides choosing at the same time. We’re excited to hear your feedback on this new mode of combat.

Chat Improvements!

This update features a ton of new chat changes. First, we’ve updated and revamped our Menu Chat so that it contains a lot more strategy and other fun phrases.

Menu chat also now features a “Favorites” column at the top of your list. This section of Menu Chat contains up to 20 items. Right Click on a favorite phrase from Manu Chat and it will be locked in to this list. Right Click that locked item in your favorite, and it will be removed. This list also keeps a tally of your recently used menu chat phrases.

Notes:

1. When a player types a phrase in filtered chat that also exists in menu chat, the chat message is sent to menu chat, so your menu chat friends can see the message as well.
2. All Menu Chat items are now available both in and out of combat.

3. Each wizard on your account will have his/her own list of favorite phrases you can use every time you log in.

Also available to all players are new emojis! Click the round face icon on the right hand side of your chat window, and this opens up a menu of emojis you can add to your conversation. Click on the emoji you want to use and you’ll notice that this adds a keyword shortcut to the chat window (For example, the fire school emoji is “:fire”. When you press enter the keyword shortcut becomes an emoji in chat. (NOTE: We’ve started with a very basic set of emojis for now—the same ones that can be found on our official message boards—and have plans to add more in the future!)To really kick up your conversations, we’ve also added a new “Friend” chat channel. Now each player has a friend chat channel and can invite friends to join it.

Your Friend Chat Channel can be public or private. Public means that anyone in chat can invite their friends to join. Private means that only you can invite your friends. You can switch your chat channel between public and private through the options menu, but the default setting is “Private.” To invite friends to your chat channel, click on a friend’s name in your friend’s list, and then click the invite to friend chat button (this is located next to your friend’s portrait in your friends list). Once you do this, your friend will then be asked if they would like to join your chat channel.

SPECIAL NOTES:

For public chat channels, everyone in the chat channel can click on any friend’s name and invite them to your chat channel.
You can ONLY be in one friend chat channel at a time, either your own or someone else’s.
The owner of a friend chat channel can invite all of their online friends once every two hours.
The owner can remove players from the chat channel by clicking on a player’s name and selecting the “remove from friend chat” button.
Players can remove themselves from other player’s chat channels by clicking the “leave friend chat” button on the friend list’s friend chat channel page.
Friend chat channels have a maximum of 150 players. Once a chat channel is full, new players can’t be added to it.
As long as any player in a friend chat channel is online, all of the players in the chat channel will remain.
As long as the chat channel stays active, you’ll be put in the friend chat channel you were in the last time you were online.
Our apologies, but the nature of our weekly maintenance will most likely clear all your chat channels.
If you leave your own chat channel, your friends will still remain in that chat channel you created; however, you won’t be included in that discussion.
You can also view all the members in your chat channel through your friend’s list page.

And finally, this update also includes our new Chat tabs feature! When you join a group, visit a house, or join a friend chat channel, a new tab will appear along the top of your chat window. Click this tab and you’ll be chatting only to this chat channel.

NOTES:

The tabs ONLY appear when you are in a group, at a house or have friends in the friend chat list. Once you add a new chat channel, the world chat tab will be named “Main.”
Housing Chat has been improved! Whereas previously only the owner of a house could send messages to their guests in both the inside and outside of the house, now everyone inside or outside your house can chat through housing chat!
Chat from the owner of a house will be colored cyan to distinguish them.

Tutorial Tip Log

We’ve added a new Tutorial Tip Log for keeping all those pesky tutorial tips contained in one icon and one location in your quest log. You access this feature in one of two ways: 1- You can click the Tutorial Tip Icon on the right hand of your screen (this fades away after one minute of appearing on screen) or 2- there is a button on the upper left of the Quest Log that will open your Tutorial Tips. This log displays all of the Tutorial Tips that you’ve ever received (with the most recent ones being displayed first). Changing computers or using the Test Realm also no longer causes a long list of tutorial tips to appear on your screen.

The Tutorial Tip Log has the following categories:

Warning—Tips that warn the player about something. For example, low on mana, close to maximum inventory or out of treasure card space, etc.
Quest—Tips that are related to quests. Like talk to Merle, etc.
School—Tips that are related to spell or pet school quests.
Tutorial—Tips that explain how something is used.

Avalon Fishing

Attention avid fishers of the Spiral! All wizards who have finished the fishing quests in Dragonspyre (specifically the quest "Not If I Catch 'Em First!") and completed the world of Avalon (specifically the quest "A Great Storm Coming") will have a new quest from Lucky Hookline in Wizard City. Lucky will send you on a quest to visit Brooke Waterman, who has set up her tackle box in Avalon. Test Realm USA - Spring Update 2017

Monstrology

Find Sapoti in the Hall of Doors in Krokotopia (Wooden Skeleton Key Boss)

Find Captain Hockins in Zafaria’s Waterfront (Stone Skeleton Key Boss).

Find Mirage’s Verboten Mimic in Aggrobah near the river area (Gold Skeleton Key Boss).

Unique loot is waiting for you in each of these fights if you’re able to master their challenges. What new treasures will you find?

New Level 118 School Pets!

The Arcanum Scholars now have a new quest available to those who are level 118. They will summon you to talk to them in the Arcanum and will send you on a quest to earn a new school pet.

Aquila Fishing New fish (and treasure chests) can now be found along the coast of Aquila.

Other Crown Shop changes are as follows:

For those who want to shortcut the time it takes to gather Animus, we have a brand new Animus Elixir that triples the animus collected.
